West Chester, PA- Dan McKnight, Chairman of Bring Our Troops Home, announced that on Monday October 19, the organization will sponsor a commemoration marking the 19 years U.S. military personnel have fought in Afghanistan.  The commemoration will be held at the grave-side of Maire Corp Major General Smedley Butler.

The ceremony will be held at the Oakland Cemetery in West Chester, Pennsylvania and commencing at 1:00 p.m.  Speakers will honor the men and women who have fought in America’s longest war while honoring the memory of one of America’s true heroes.

General Butler was awarded two Congressional Medals of Honor two times, one of only 14 service members to have achieved that distinction for separate actions.  At the end of his illustrious 33-year military career, General Butler spoke out against what would later be labeled the “Military-Industrial Complex.”  His writings, including the pamphlet War is a Racket are still used today, 80 years after his death.

All those interested in honoring the men and women who have sacrificed in the Afghan War are welcome to attend.  The media is welcome.  Inquires on technical support should be directed to Bring Our Troops Home at the number above.
